     The mass media and especially the internet give rise to claims that a person’s reputation has been damaged by what another person has said. Such claims of defamation include libel (written) and slander (spoken).

     Mr. McCabe has handled a number of newsworthy defamation cases. He obtained a judgment for over $500,000 for sanctions and defamation. He amicably settled a case brought against John O’Quinn by Howard K. Stern concerning the death of Anna Nicole Smith. He also served as lead counsel for the mother of Anna Nicole Smith in a defamation case against various defendants, including two who went to jail for contempt of court for withholding or destroying evidence.
