Neil C McCabe

Although there is no agreed definition, white collar crimes typically are nonviolent crimes committed for financial gain, often in the course of a professional person’s occupation. Such crimes include fraud, bribery, embezzlement, and forgery. Mr. McCabe successfully defended one of his former law students in the highly-publicized Houston City Hall Bribery Case.

Distinction between ethical lobbying, bribery often blurry

In a case on behalf of a former officer in a savings and loan association, Mr. McCabe argued an important politically-charged constitutional issue in New Orleans before 17 federal judges at the same time. The appeals court sent the case back to the trial court in a divided decision.

Mr. McCabe then settled the case on terms very favorable to the defendant, including retaining his law license.
